Kassaba is a dynamic quartet with a unique sound and style inspired by jazz, classical and world music. Composer/pianist Greg Slawson, pianist Candice Lee, saxophonist Mark Boich and bassist Chris Vance double on 25 exotic percussion instruments, creating a colorful spectacle and a soundscape that resonates globally. Their latest CD, “Dark Eye,” can be heard on over 125 radio and web radio stations throughout the US and the world.

Past performance venues include the FIMU international music festival in Belfort, France; Cornell University’s Johnson Museum of Art, the “Crossing Borders Live” radio program in Ithaca, New York; The Rex Jazz & Blues Bar in Toronto, Ontario; Kavehaz in New York City; Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, Massachusetts; and Cain Park, Nighttown, and the Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio. In October, they participated in the semifinal round of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition in New York.

Kassaba was the subject of an episode of the radio show Cleveland Jazz History with Joe Mosbrook.

“The best thing about Kassaba’s music is it defies categorization.… And it is this very thing which gives Kassaba’s music its freshness and whimsey.”
–Laura Varcho in Cool Cleveland
